Alpe Adria Junior Championship at Birizdokart, Kecskemét
The third round of the Alpe Adria Junior Championship was held at the Birizdokart race track in Kecskemét, as usual, in conjunction with the Hungarian and Slovak youth championships. Competitors from the Alpe Adria represented themselves in four categories: PW50, MiniGP 110, MiniGP 160, and GP2. A total of 25 young participants from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Romania, and Hungary registered.
After a sunny free practice session on Friday, the drivers had to face changing conditions on race day. It started raining before the races, and based on the race officials’ decision, the riders were allowed to start after a brief delay. Some parts of the track were still wet, demanding great attention from the competitors.
The most entrants were again in the entry-level category, with 11 riders on the starting grid. The previous line up was joined by a newcomer, Romanian girl Zsuzsanna Barothi, for whom the Kecskemét race was her first race ever. Péter Plachy and Michal Ronec fought for the first place once again, and after a fair battle, the Hungarian driver managed to win again, thus strengthening his position in the overall standings.
Mattia Pátek stood on the third step of the podium. The MiniGP 110’s field of 5 competitors once again had a close battle on the race track. The first race was won by Hungarian rider Kevin Laczkó, who overtook Gergő Hernádi in the last lap and then Roman Masar Junior in the final straight, surprising his opponents and impressing the audience. In the second race, the order was Masar – Hernádi – Laczkó, making Slovakian Roman Masar Junior the overall winner of the weekend.
The MiniGP 160 field grew to 9 riders after the Visonta round, making the race even more exciting. Milán Szklenár finished first in both races, securing the top spot on the podium. Behind him, a very thrilling race unfolded, with Zalán Kalmár and Lucian Végh each managing to finish second in one race, resulting in them achieving the same points.
