The third event of Alpe Adria Championship and European Championship Stock250 class, took place over the weekend in Rijeka on ex GP track Grobnik, Croatia. Hundred and fifty riders from 15 European countries participated the event.
The riders of World sidecar championship were also the part of the event. Riders on the vintage motorcycles participated as well. As usually all the classes had two races on the schedule. The weather conditions was changeable, as always on Grobnik, Friday mostly sunny with few drops of rain, Saturday sunny at the morning but at the afternoon a lot of rain, but Sunday was mostly sunny.
In the European Championship of the class Stock 250 Czech riders Filip Salač and Oliver König shared the victory, but Italian rider Manuel Torrini managed to keep the first place of ranking after the event in Rijeka. His compatriot, ageless Gabriele Gnani, win in Alpe-Adria Moto3 class, when he confidently won on Saturday and Sunday and this secured his leading position.
Mislav Perkusić also takes two victories, in the class 125SP. He had a lot of fight with Italian Danilo Digiorgio, when they were split by only two thousands of a second crossing the finish line. Andrej Kosmač is confidently at the head on the list of points for class 125SP.
At the start of the race in the classes 600, Superstock600 and Supersport, both leading riders, the Hungarian Dávid Juhász and János Chrobák, were not present on Grobnik. They participated on the World Championship Supersport class in Italy with the wild card. The former European champion Györfi Alen substituted his compatriot in Rijeka perfectly, by winning both Superstock600 races, and placed himself on the top of the chart right away. Supersport class both races dominated Igor Kaláb from Czech republic. He also became the new leader of his class.
Czech riders have been successful in Superstock1000 as well, when Václav Rumlena and Michal Šembera achieved victories. Their compatriot Michal Prášek, who ended up on the 4th and 2nd place in Rijeka, is at the top of Superstock1000 after this weekend, but Michal Šembera is just few points behind.
The leading rider of SBK class, Austrian Roland Resch on Saturday race finished “only” on third place, but won on Sunday and this continues to confidently lead in the SBK class.
On the event on Grobnik were present also 4 girls participated in three classes. Petra Lesički in class 125SP, Daniela Weingartner in class Superstock600 and Sabine Holbrook and Lenka Viktorova in SBK class. All of them participates and takes in Women Alpe Adria Championship.
And if you ask why we put photo of Marko Jerman, there is one special reason. Marko Jerman made track record on Grobnik Circuit two years ago; 1:28:800. Emediately after free ractice sessions on Friday, Marko sad that he is very confident and for sure he will be able to go below his record time. On the first official practice on Saturday he did 1:27:676 with average speed of 171,139 km/h and with this time he made best ever lap on Grobnik circuit. He tryed to make new record of the track wich must be made during the race, but weather and track conditions were not ideal to make it. .
The Alpe Adria Road Racing Championship and European Championship will continue on 17.-19. July on the Czech motodrome in Most.
